Day 1 proved to be a great warmup, except for Dan, as he shoot a smooth 195, 97 in the morning and 98 in the afternoon.
Also, we learned a few new things:
Kessler plays great barefoot and channels his inner Jerry Pate with the Orange Golf Ball
Derek can not take Day 1 pressure, but he did sqeak by Dan with a 91 and a 95
Lee is a fast starter with a first 9 33
Bill pared his first four holes, Dave Roesch would be proud
Fred's penetrating ball flight works well in the desert
Darrell still has an excuse for every score
Here are the results from Day 1:
4Man 2 Best Ball-One Net and One Gross
1st Place (-8) ONeil/Kessler/Bernie/Fred
2nd Place (-3) Derek/Jardo/Lee/COME ON!!
3rd and 4th place did not cash
Skins-4 total, $15 each. Oneil (2), Wolter (1) and Cuthbert (1)
Today is President's Cup Day, the team photos will be posted later tonight.

Early Betting
The first event on Friday will be a Calcutta which will give everyone the opportunity to bet on themselves and one another.
So far Dan Webb is the betting favorite with Lee Gardner and Ken Collins not far behind.
The weather looks pretty good and we are looking forward to getting that first ball airborne at 7AM on Friday.
Next post from Mesquite.

One More Week
Well here we are just 7 short days away and I know for me next Thursday can not come fast enough. This Saturday will be the last "official" practice session so I hope everyone can make it. I have received threats from Mr. Wolter and Mr. Pederson that they will be joining us but we will see.
For those of you leaving on Wednesday and playing prior to the group arrival on Thursday please make sure of a couple things. First, that Darrell does not aggrevate his turf toe and that he goes through his entire stretching routine before teeing off. Also, please mark you ball clearly as Mr. Zolandz has been known to scoop up balls in the desert that do not belong to him. ( Please see Darrell for the full story)
Put some thoughts into those Calcutta bets and I will see you all on Saturday.

T Minus 17 Days
WHEW.....Less than three weeks to go, and with the kickoff meeting tomorrow night, it almost feels like golf season.
When last I saw eveyone at the dome I saw some encouraging signs; Darrell and Bill sharing a lesson just like they share a bed for luggage, Steve J not snaping his back out of place, Webb was striping other clubs other than his 7 Wood, and Kenny was hitting more than wedge.

Taking One For the Team
Before I start this story, I want to make it clear that I am not the same caliber wordsmith as Jack.
Being the true team player that I am, I took a travel bullet for the team last night. My travel home from a week long trip started out normal and ended in an airline nightmare. My connecting flight in Memphis took off, albeit late due to weather, and was halfway into its journey to Milwaukee when the pilot announced the windshield wiper broke and we needed to return to Memphis.
Upon landing in Memphis all the passengers were asked to deplane and wait for further instructions, and we all knew what was coming, this flight was cancelled. At this point I made my way to baggage claim to get my bag only to find out that Delta routed my luggage on a different flight and I was told by a "very savy" customer service rep that my bag was already in Milwaukee.
So now it was approaching 10PM, and I headed to the hotel, no luggage, no dinner, and no flight until 8:40 Friday morning.
This advernture, along with some other recent delays, should allow for clear sailing on March 24th.
No thanks needed, just send $$$.
Happy Friday,
Mike

A Month and Counting
Well here we are 30 days from the invasion and it can not come quick enough. Mother Nature's latest fury has made us even more anxious to hit the links, I am sure DF is already trying to get to Florida in the next two weeks.
On Saturday at the dome Dan and I learned something new from Mr. Frenzel, the reason Darrell can not hit the chipping targets is that the dome roof is to low. To paraphrase....If the ceiling were higher I could just hit my normal F2 flop shot and drop the ball right on the target but instead I hit the roof. I am sure Dave Pelz would be proud Darrell's short game prowess.
I hope you all have a good week and I will see you at the dome on Saturday.

33 Days
There are 33 days until The National invades Mesquite for the 4th consecutive year. First timers in 2011 are Brian Pederson, Marc Cuthbert, Fred " Win My $$$" Steiner, and the 2010 CMPC Club Champ Lee Gardner.
The group will be gathering on Saturday's at the dome to watch Darrell hit the door, make sure Jaeger does not snap his spinal column and in general to work off the winter rust. The Orlando trip was not enough for some.
Weekly updates are scheduled and daily updates, results, pictures adn stories will be posted each day from Mesquite.
